I am a Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow (Postdoc-to-Assistant Professor) in the School of Politics and Global Studies at Arizona State University. My research investigates the causes and consequences of political representation, with a particular focus on historically marginalized groups in Western democracies, including Latin America and the United States. Methodologically, I draw on a combination of observational studies, quasi and randomized experiments, causal inference, and machine learning tools. Key to my research is working directly with political elites and members of marginalized communities, as well as developing new measures and datasets to better study political representation.

My interest in inequality transcends my research. I have also worked on reducing gender and racial inequality from a public policy standpoint in association with researchers, social organizations, government bodies, and international organizations in Uruguay. I continue to promote change through publicly engaged research.

I hold a BA in Political Science and a Graduate Diploma in Economics from the Facultad de Ciencias Sociales of the Universidad de la República (FCS-UdelaR), and a PhD in Political Science from Rice University. In Spring 2024, I was a Visiting Ph.D. in Quantitative Political Economy at King’s College London.
